How long does it take for driftwood to stop floating?

I bought some driftwood in the LPs the other day and I've been soaking for days. It is still floating. I just bought the wrong kind? I know that some types of water are never recorded and will float forever. He did not say what kind was, but could not be of cedar? It's a little smell of cedar, but only slightly? Anyway, how long usually have to soak the driftwood before becomes water logged and sink?

so whar i red in a book once that said he needs a bucket that can hold the wood and tie some fish line a rock and then to the driftwood and soak for two weeks and change water everyother day. The book is called My Guppy
