How can i strip copper wire for scrap metal with out burning it?

I have maybe 50 lbs of all sizes of wire but I would like to know how to strip it with out an expensive bought machine. I want to try to build a stripper or something I can use to strip copper wire easily. with out burning it!!!

It depends on the type of insulation on the wire and the size of the wire. In general for small and medium size wire, a utility knife is the fastest and cheapest. An electricians wire stripper costs $10 and up depending on the type. If you want to build one of your own, it will probably cost more than the $100 you might get for the 50 lbs of copper. NY price on spot copper is below $2/ lb and will not go up in the near future.
If you want to build your own, it must be a very solid mount and either a manual unit where you pull the wire through the stripper or a motor driven unit that will pull the wire through and cut the insulation.
