How DuPont ™ Tyvek cost or are there other simular bands that are cheaper and just as good?

I used Tyvek other brands. It is my opinion that the Tyvek is good for what it is designed for - an air barrier, but that's all. It is over-rated and over priced. It is not a water hazard, so for use as residing in an area that gets plenty of rain (or wind-driven rain) I continue to use the old asphalt felt (tar paper). It is cheap, easy to install and works well. If you pay attention to detail and generous overlap, you get both a barrier as Tyvek, the more it will shed water that behaves as the siding. In addition, it will not blind you when you work around it by a sunny day.
