How long can a cat survive with FIP?

Our 13 week old kitten (Long Haired Angora Tabby Mix) tested negative in the preliminary screenfor FIP, but the we're waiting for the other results. The vet said his blood work indicated a drop in red blood cell count and liver levels are "off." We just brought him home after five days in the hospital. He's eating well and using the litter box, but even on IV fluids, he spikes a fever each day around 104.7 and it doesn't drop below 103. The vet said there is no chance for survival and suggests that he be put to sleep.

As much as I hate to say this, If your vet said no chance of survival,Why put the kitten through anymore ? I know its hard for us not to be selfish when put in a situation like this but think of the kitten.You wouldnt want to be put through any unnecessary pain or sickness.I hope all goes well for you and your kitty.
