Halide Lamp
Halide Lamp
Are lumens directly proportional to the power of a lamp?
If I know that a 250 Watt lamp has 17000 lumens but in the package of the 175 watt lamp doesn't have the technical information can I do a simple directly proportional correlation to know the lumens of the lamp? it is an Osram Metal Halide Lamp, and I can't find the info online
In theory it could work but only among the same type of lamp made by the same manufacturer. With so many variables in materials used to construct lamps lumen's per watt can be considered voodoo estimation. The only way to know for sure would be to use a lumen meter to check the actual lamp output and to do that you would have to have the bulb in order to test it. I suggest just sending an e-mail to the company and ask them for the info.
