Helmet Hard
can a protec skateboard helmet be made to substitute a hard hat on construction sites?
hard hats are very uncomfortable, and fall off ALL the time. i need something sturdy and comfortable. so i decided to maybe try out a protec skateboarding helmet. Will this still provide enough protection on a build? afterall, it is made for hard falls, and its cushioned...any input is very much appreciated!
In theory, yes a skate helmet should provide adequate protection, except maybe penetration.
In practice, no. Skate helmets have not been tested against construction hazards and are not OSHA approved. Wearing one can get both you and your employer in trouble.
There is somewhat good news, an ANSI type II hard hat has an EPS liner similar to skate helmets
