Home Inspection

Does a home inspection pretty accurate in determining faults in your home?

I am buying a home and getting a home inspection. Will an inspector be pretty accurate to tell me what's wrong and what will be a nearby repair?

What are their chances they miss things?

If you hire a reputable inspector not much if anything would be missed. They typically have a check list they work off, so it is tough to forget something unless they're a bottom of the barrel slacker inspector. Get one that comes recommended by realors, banks, friends etc.. Also bring up any concerns to the inspector, they will look at it for you (if it is part of the inspection process - not everything in the home is)
And if something breaks after closing, it does not necessarily mean the inspector missed it, could be as simple as luck and bad timing, happens all the time unfortunetly...
Often buyers agents will recommend the seller purchase a 1 year home warranty for you or you could purchase it yourself, about $450-500.
