take Zippo lighter depart America By plane?
I am going back to China by plane and I am willing to take several Zippo wind-proof lighters with me for friends. Does the US. custom allow me to do so and is there any number limitation?

Yes you can bring Zippo lighters with you as long as they're not fueled. And if I understand you correctly, these will be new lighters possibly in their boxes? They can be in your carry-on as well as in your checked luggage. This is the air safety part of your question.
US custom will not control what you bring OUT of the US. In fact, you never have to clear customs when you're leaving a country. However the Chinese customs might be interested. Normally there's a limit of the goods value that you can bring in without paying tax. I don't know the limit for China but a guess is that you can bring many lighters without problem. If you are considering more than maybe 20-30 lighters, then it can be a problem bringing them without paying duty.
