Sunday, April 24th, 2011Need help with the meaning of yellow light for 2004 Mini Cooper?
My 2004 Mini Cooper had a warning light illuminates in the odometer. It is yellow with a black circle and three lines on each side, but nothing in between. I can not find what this means in light of the information I received with my car.
This is the brake wear indicator plates (see page 15-16 of your textbook). Chances are you've spent almost all of your brake pad material and it is time for a brake job. On 2 of your wheels (one front, one rear), you have a sensor in the brake pad (black) that is destroyed when the pads are worn to some degree. You now need brake pads and the least 1 (possibly 2) sensors. If you have not done the front brakes, you can be because of new rotors as well. A flush brake fluid well. I do this work on my '06 MCS regularly ... it is not hard to do. $ 100-200 you can get a good set of pads + 20 $ Sensor + $ 200 for the rotors. Brake fluid is $ 20 or more. The dealer will probably charge you over $ 1000 for work, but it is important that you is because you're probably down to 2-4 months left pad before brake failure catestrophc.
