Yale lock won't open on left turn?
I have a Yale lock on my front door, wooden. When I put my key in it will only open if I turn it clockwise ie right. It will not unlock the door if o turn the key left (anti clockwise) can anyone tell me how this can be fixed?
Yale locks usually open when you turn the top of the key away from the opening edge - so it sounds to me as though your lock is on the left side of the door when you face it and the hinges are on the right. This is quite normal - what is the problem with it, after they have lived in the house a couple of weeks most people would adapt to it and turn clockwise instinctively.
If you absolutely must have a key which unlocks anti-clockwise then you need to re-hang your front door so that the hinges are on the left as you enter and the lock is on the right edge.
